About us

Two worlds, one home

We are Anna and Jon-Anders. Two people from completely different worlds who found a home together in the same one.

Together we show you the real north: around a real fire, with our own reindeer and the stories of the land Jon-Anders comes from.

Our story

How it began

Anna grew up in the tiny Frisian village of Moddergat, surrounded by the North Sea. Jon-Anders was born in Swedish Lapland, into a Sámi family that has lived with and cared for reindeer for generations.

We met between two extremes: the flat coast of Friesland and the wild mountains of Sápmi.

And somehow we built a life that combines both: creativity and tradition, stillness and movement, modern life and age-old knowledge.

Reindeer herder

Jon-Anders works as a reindeer herder, a way of life passed down through generations. During our experiences you'll meet him, and he talks honestly about life with the reindeer and Sámi culture.

Photographer and storyteller

Anna is a photographer and storyteller. She captures the light, the silence and the small moments that define life in the north. She also shares her eye with guests: with us you learn to photograph the northern lights from someone who lives beneath them.

Together

We founded Go To Sápmi to share this world honestly

No staged tourism, no costumes or folklore. Just real encounters, around a real fire, under the real Arctic sky.

Frequently asked questions

Good to know

Can't find your question? Email us at info@gotosapmi.com.

What does “Sápmi” mean?

Sápmi is the Sámi word for the region that stretches across northern Norway, Sweden, Finland and the Kola Peninsula in Russia. It is more than Lapland: it is a culture, a way of life and a connection with the land.

Are your trips suitable for everyone?

Yes. Our experiences are designed for all ages and fitness levels. Whether you want to photograph the northern lights or meet reindeer up close, we keep it relaxed and personal.

Do we need special equipment or clothing?

Above all, make sure you stay warm. Before your trip we'll send you a packing list and a few tips from us to help you prepare.

Will we meet real Sámi?

Yes. Our experiences in Sweden are led or co-led by Jon-Anders, who is Sámi and works as a reindeer herder. You get an honest look at daily life here. No costumes, no performance.

Where do the trips take place?

Our trips in Sweden take place in northern Sweden, around Luleå. Many experiences start at Brändön Lodge, about 30 minutes from Luleå Airport: easy to reach, but far enough from the city lights, deep in the forest.
