Our winter trip in Sápmi
Small-group and personal, with our own reindeer and the people who live here. Our 5-day winter package is ready-made, but we are just as happy to put together a completely custom trip for you.

Tell us what you're looking for →Two worlds, one home
We are Anna and Jon-Anders. Anna comes from Friesland, Jon-Anders is Sámi and works as a reindeer herder. Together we show you the real north: around a real fire, with our own reindeer and the stories of the land Jon-Anders comes from.

This is what our guests say
Some of these reviews were originally written in Dutch and have been translated.
You can feel that this isn't just a tour, it's their life. So pure and special. Everything was arranged down to the last detail. You don't feel like a tourist, but like a welcome guest.
Go To Sápmi doesn't just show you Sápmi, you really feel it. Small-scale, personal and with great respect for nature and Sámi culture.
A trip away from mass tourism, with activities led by local, dedicated and warm-hearted people. Truly one of the most beautiful trips we have ever been lucky enough to take.
We saw and experienced an incredible amount in just a few days. This would never have been possible without their knowledge and connections. It was special how they took us into the story of Sápmi.
Our trip was beautifully tailored to our family. Everything felt personal and carefully arranged. Our children, aged 9 and 5, had a fantastic time.
Such a special glimpse into their life with the reindeer. Not too commercial and not too touristy. No tight schedule, but plenty of time to truly enjoy it.
It was a magical and surprisingly calming experience. Being so close to the gentle reindeer, feeling their soft muzzles and seeing their curious eyes, created a moment of pure wonder.
We can't recommend the Sami Reindeer Experience enough, it was an absolute highlight of our trip to Sweden. Lulu and Kevin really stole the show, eating food out of our hands! Jon-Anders and Anna were fantastic hosts.
I don't know which trip suits me. Where do I start?

What is Wood Hotel Bodø, and how does it fit with Go To Sápmi?
Wood Hotel Bodø is a calm, luxurious base on the Norwegian coast, above the Arctic Circle, with a heated rooftop pool, good food and nature on your doorstep. It isn't a Sápmi trip, but another way to experience the north, in winter and in summer. You can read more on our Norway page.
When is the best time to see the northern lights in Swedish Lapland?
The best period is from late September to mid-March, with the darkest and most active months around December and January. During our 5-day winter trip there's plenty of chance to see the northern lights in the evening.
Is it respectful to take part in a Sámi experience as a tourist?
It depends on how the experience is set up. At Go To Sápmi the tour is led by a Sámi with his own reindeer and his own background in Sámi culture and reindeer herding, rather than the culture being “performed” for tourists. The difference lies in who tells the story and how the animals and the land are treated.
Is Swedish Lapland suitable for a trip with children?
Absolutely. We put your trip together entirely to suit you, with activities that are fun for both the children and the parents, and rest days if you like, so it doesn't become a rushed trip.
