With this journey we invite you into that rhyth: to move with the herd, to feel the cold bite of the wind, to taste life as it truly is for us Sámi.
Hosted by the Fjellman family, whose name means mountain men, this experience opens the door to a world passed down through generations of reindeer herders.
You’ll travel deep into our mountains, where time slows, light fades, and the land begins to speak again.
Here, there are no crowds, no performances, no comfort for comfort’s sake: only truth, warmth, and belonging.

This is not a trip you can book.
You can only hope to be invited.
We don’t share exact locations, and we don’t open this experience to everyone. The few who are selected will receive a personal invitation and a chance to step into a world normally closed to outsiders.
To even be considered, you must add your name to the waitling list. From there, we decide who will be brought north.
The yourney
Day 1 - Arrival in Luleå
Check in at Clarion Hotel.
In the evening, we gather for a welcome dinner, sharing stories and safety briefings as the adventure ahead takes shape.
Day 2 - Into the mountains
The road leads west toward our homeland, pausing for lunch at Storforsen, Europe’s largest untouched rapid. From there, sleds carry us into Europe’s oldest pine forest.
Here begins your immersion: firelight, sauna, and the first night beneath a sky alive with stars.
Day 3 – With the herd
We rise with the reindeer.
Feeding, caring, following their instinct through snow and silence. Lunch is cooked over an open fire, and as the light fades, we gather for dinner in the same cabin where our family once learned this way of life.
Day 4 - Life in motion
We move as the herd moves. You’ll help with daily tasks, learn what’s required to be a herder, and begin to feel part of their cycle.
We may fish beneath the ice or follow tracks of predators, each moment shaped by the land. Nights are spent beside the herd in a warm tent, fueled by a wood furnace, the aurora above.
Day 5 – Mountain Expedition
After morning duties, we venture higher into the fells: this is a full-day expedition of snowshoeing, ice-fishing, and wildlife tracking. We share food around the fire, stories flowing with the wind. This is Sámi life at its purest: raw, honest, and real.
Day 6 – Return to Luleå
After breakfast we pack up camp and begin the journey back to Luleå.

Only a handful of travelers each year are welcomed into our world, to live as we live, close to the herd, the fire, and the silence.
Those on the watchlist become part of the Circle of the North: a small, trusted group who will share what no one else ever has: the truth of Sámi life, unfiltered and untamed.
Membership is by invitation only. Once inside, you’ll receive direct contact with your Sámi hosts, early access to future journeys, and the rare chance to return to reindeer land before anyone else.
